Help answer the question about desktop computers

How much would it cost to setup 10 desktop computers and 10 laptop computers to a server and network?
I need to have 10 Desktop and 10 Laptop computers all networked together and all hooked up to 1 server. Also (3) 24″ monitors need to be hooked up to each desktop computer. I would like to know what I need for this project and what it would cost to get it done. It is for a small business just starting out.

As asked, this is a pretty open-ended question, and as such very hard to answer.
Does the server already exist?

What's the network operating system (NetWare, Windows, Linux, Mac/OS)?

Is the wiring infrastructure already in place?

Do all the computers have netowkr cards?

Do you need services other than file & printer sharing set up, such as e-mail, proxy, database?

Do the computers need to have applications loaded on them?

Painting with a *very* broad brush, a competent network technician, setting the network up right, will take 5-10 hours to set up the server, and 1-1.5 hours per PC for setup & testing. Rates for network installs can run from $45-$125 per hour.

Yes its possible. Firsty connect ur desktop and laptop. share the windows drive(say c:) of laptop. make sure u allow the netork to change settings. For that u have to check both the check boxes while sharing. Now add a network place at ur desktop and give the path of ur shared drive c:. Now go to my computer and add a network drive. (My computer>tool>map network drive.) add the shared one.

Now the c: of ur laptop is just like ur normal drive of desktop. Scan it and get rid of viruses.

Best Of Luck…!

You need a broadband, wireless router.

The connection would be this…
1) Cable or DSL line to cable/DSL modem.
2) Ethernet cable from modem to wireless router (I use a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router).
3) You can then connect the computers to your router via Ethernet cable or wireless card.

The wireless router will acquire connection info from your ISP and it will host your local network and pass out IP addresses and DNS information to your home computers via DHCP.

If you set your Windows computers to use the same workgroup, they'll be able to file/print share with each other with a little tweaking as well.

Compaq and HP are two brands owned by HP, and from a reliability standpoint are going to be identical.

Judging from the results in PC Magazine's 20th annual service and reliability survey of its customers, Dell is a bit more reliable than HP, but not by much. Both brands have their share of problems – the only major brand that does better than both in PC desktops is Sony.

You can set up another router as a bridge using DD-WRT firmware and connect the 3 desktops to that. Or just buy a wireless adapter for each individual desktop.

I would recommend you to check out ProCompare.com (hxxp://procompare.com/top/notebooks). They have a recommendation engine that ranks laptops and other tech products based on ratings and reviews from a community of trusted IT professionals. They also have a cool personalization slider that lets you personalize the results based on the criteria that are most important to YOU.

Hope you’ll find this answer useful…

Just touch a piece of metal every once in a while… you don’t need an anti static wrist band.

The set-up should be from the main server in your company
and then you can access to your account with your user & password the one that you use in your company office

you'll enter through the site similar like this
>https://mail.YOUR COMPANY.com/exchange
