If wireless is set up properly and enabled on your laptop (make sure it is not switched off) there should be an icon in lower right taskbar to connect to wireless networks. Once you search for networks, the default SSID has a suffix that matches the tail end of your 2Wire serial number. When you try to connect to it, the default WEP key (unless changed) is in square brackets on the bottom of the 2Wire.

If signal strength is weak, you can increase power setting in config page of the 2Wire under Wireless settings. Or if you get interference from neighbors, try a different channel (1 or 11). If you have any 2.4 GHz cordless phones they might interfere (my 900 MHz and 5.8 GHz phones are no problem).

You don't really need anything special. My main desktop computer is running XP pro and this machine I'm typing to you on is running Vista Premium. I use a store bought router and its configured with all the security that it comes with.

Your usb. Are you booting with USB plugged in? If so, try booting with out it plugged in. Also try another USB port and a different USB flash drive.

You can go to the Dlink website and search for and download your driver. Its not Vista Compatible according to Dlink.

If there is wireless adapter on the desktop computer, then you can set up Internet Connection Sharing to share the Internet connection by having ad-hoc wireless connection to the labtop.

However I would suggest you get a wireless router and set up wireless network to share Internet connection. Better way to share Internet connection.

for your laptop to connect wireless to your network you need on more piece of equipment which is a Wireless router. Then you cna config your laptop to it and set up your wireless printing by either having a wireless enabled printer on the same wireless network or having it hard wired to the back of the wireless router. Lynksis is a good router
