3A LCD MONITOR does not have a built in tuner…
That's the ONLY difference between the same model…
They are splendid if you know you'll be connected to Satellite or Cable and using their HD Set top boxes for the next 10 – 15 years.
If you're unsure, get the LCD TV.
If it was detrimental to the eyes, do you reckon they would be allowable to sell it?
You can test a LCD TVat this site

4No. Only channels that are in HD plot can be viewed in HD. At this point in time there aren't very many existing. My cable company has only CBS, ABC, UPN on basic, and 5 additional channels counting ESPN, Discovery, and two incredible HDNET channels, one all splendid movies.
It's not possible to view additional channels in HD. We can only wait for more cable companies to start cablecasting in HD.

7Traditional CRT and 'ancient' Plasmas are energy hogs. But what does that really end up importance? Even poor the acting sets from those types will only cost you like $40 a year more than an LCD. And that's like the worst case. So even a so-so set, and you're possibly looking at only $20 difference (per year). So its not really a huge deal.
As has already been mentioned, there are now Plasma sets which are energy star products. They can compete with the LCDs in stipulations of power utilization. Most of the excellent brands' newest models fall below this category (Panasonic, Samsung).
But technology stereotypes only hold so right anyhow. Plasma or LCD doesn't really matter. Point model number matters most. Not all models, additional any technology, are made copy. There are LCDs that are power hogs.

11Plasmas are surpass for night viewing than LCDs.
The size to get depends on the viewing interval and the programming types. If you are vacant to be watching frequently HDTV programming, you can be as close as 2 times the screen measurement away (so, for a 42-incher, you don't want it any closer than 7 feet away from your viewing spot).
If you watch a lot of ordinary classification, you probably want a less vital screen or want to have it a bit further back, so that it is at smallest amount 2.5 or 3 times the screen dimension away.
Plasmas generally don't come any less vital than 42 inches. If 42 inches is aptly for you, among the top choices among reviewers aptly now are the Samsung HPT4254 / 4264 and the Panasonic 42px75 / px77. Check reviews at CNET not more than.
Excellent luck.

13its in fact below the manufactures warrenty i know exactly what your discussion about
in the end what they do is split the screen into 4 quadrants and when you send it in they fix the quadrants
ummm samsung typically does 1 year warrentys
but if you bought and extended one from the store you bought it from take it back and they SHOULD take care of the problem

17If you have no volume bar or menu showing on the screen, then it cannot be whatever business you have wired incorrect.
to see the picture on an lcd tv, you need to have back illumination. the light shines through the lcd panel and you can see the picture. I suspect that you have record on the screen, but you cannot see it since the back illumination are not lit. To verify this austerely turn the tv on in a very dark room and tune in a channel so you can hear the audio. then with a commanding flashlight, point it into the screen and look nearly the edge of the flashlight for verify of record. Be careful not scratch the panel with the flashlight as you house it on it..
Back to your problem, the back illumination are tiny florescent bulbs and a ballast to run them, akin to the ones in a shop light. If the illumination go terrible or the ballast fails them you will get your symptom. Many times if the illumination fail then not all of them will fail all at once, so the others will start up and then after a second they will cause the ballast to quit trying. In this case when you at the start start up the tv, you will see a slight glow on the screen (if the room is really dark). Many times you can see which light isn't working, there will be a darker horizontal stripe. This usually means the panel must be replaced, and except it's take in with a warranty, you will probably not fix it due to the costs.
If it never glows slightly, then replacing the ballast may fix it. On some set this enter is not unfilled unconnectedly, but many have now been released. And on newer sets the ballast is part of the power enter, and they have issues with a diode shorting so the part is low-cost. With out a model number, I'm spit balling.
The last business that can take house, is there is a slight back glow and no picture is being showed. This is nearly alway the fault of the lcd hegemony enter. Like the ballasts, many of these boards are now unfilled without buying the total panel.
At any rate, you know what to expect, there is nothing you can do, since a technician will need to fix it.
